Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the PABiH Darijana Filipović Held a Meeting with Ambassadors of the Friends of the Western Balkans Member States
The EU Path of BiH Demands Concrete Agreements, Reforms, and Strong Support from Partners
Darijana Filipović, Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the PABiH, held a meeting today in Sarajevo with the ambassadors of the member states of the Friends of the Western Balkans group.
The discussion was dedicated to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the continuation of reform processes, and the role of European Union member states that actively support the integration of the Western Balkan countries.
The Friends of the Western Balkans group brings together European Union member states that support the European perspective of the region and seek, through political dialogue and practical support, to contribute to accelerating the enlargement process. Within this framework, it was emphasized that the EU path of BiH requires stronger gradual integration into European policies and structures, which can bring concrete benefits to the institutions, the economy, and all citizens.
It was emphasized at the meeting that BiH must continue to work actively on adopting the remaining legislative and reform solutions in order to accelerate progress on the European path and open up space for stronger engagement in European processes.
"The European path of BiH cannot remain a purely declarative commitment. It demands agreement, accountability, and a readiness to translate assumed obligations into concrete legislative and reform solutions. Croat representatives in the institutions of BiH advocate clearly for the European future of the country, as it means more stable institutions, the rule of law, economic development, and a more secure framework for all citizens of BiH. The future of BiH must be built through an internal political agreement among equal constituent peoples, respecting all diversities, just as the European Union does. That is precisely why it is important to demonstrate that BiH can adopt decisions bringing it closer to the European Union," stated MP Filipović.
It was concluded that the European integration of BiH has no alternative, and that the continuation of an open dialogue with European Union member states and partners gathered in the Friends of the Western Balkans group remains essential for aligning positions and for the further progress of BiH toward the European Union.
