Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH Boško Šiljegović held a meeting with the Military Attaché of the Federal Republic of Germany in BiH

The Parliamentary Military Commissioner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Boško Šiljegović, held a meeting today with the Military Attaché of the Federal Republic of Germany in BiH, Colonel Marc Abendroth.

During the meeting, the continuation of successful cooperation was discussed, with particular emphasis on the continuous and significant support that the Federal Republic of Germany provides to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH).

Parliamentary Military Commissioner Šiljegović expressed gratitude for the long-standing and extensive military assistance of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, noting that this support is key to strengthening the operational capabilities and modernization of the AFBiH.

According to Šiljegović, the continuous assistance—which includes equipment donations, training, and expertise—directly contributes to building professional, interoperable, and reliable AFBiH. Commissioner Šiljegović emphasized, and as an example, he highlighted the fact that the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany supported the procurement of field uniforms and footwear for members of the Armed Forces of BiH with more than 6 million KM.

Colonel Abendroth confirmed the commitment of the Federal Republic of Germany to further support defense reform and the strengthening of the AFBiH. He emphasized that Germany is a long-standing partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina and will continue to provide concrete assistance aimed at improving the capacities of the AFBiH and their contribution to collective security efforts.

During the substantive discussion, Šiljegović informed Colonel Abendroth about the competencies and activities of the Office of the Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, with a focus on the protection of the human rights and freedoms of members of the AFBiH. The interlocutors agreed on the importance of parliamentary oversight, as well as the work and results of this Office in the defence sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. (end)
